Es gibt wenige Sängerinnen in unseren Tagen, die ein so breites Repertoire pflegen wie die Mezzosopranistin Magdalena Kožená. Mit den stilistischen Finessen der historischen Aufführungspraxis oder der zeitgenössischen Musik ist sie ebenso vertraut wie mit romantischem Lied- oder Opernrepertoire. Einige Facetten ihrer Kunst kann man in ihrem dritten Konzert als Residenzkünstlerin der Elbphilharmonie Konzerte erleben, einer szenischen Produktion, die sich um »Starke Frauen« dreht. Musik aus dem ersten »Opernkrimi« der Geschichte etwa – denn nichts anderes ist Monteverdis »Die Krönung der Poppea«, in der es um eine Geliebte des römischen Kaisers Nero geht. Für Magdalena Kožená (als Nero) ist es die absolute Paraderolle, mit dieser Oper feierte sie einst ihren Durchbruch. Ein echtes Kunststück wagt sie dann bei »Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda«. Eigentlich singen hier drei Personen, doch Magdalena Kožená stellt den (Geschlechter-) Kampf zwischen dem christlichen Tancredi, der muslimischen Clorinda und einem Sprecher ganz alleine dar. Zauberkünste der Gesangstechnik sind übrigens auch für die beiden zeitgenössischen Werke vonnöten. Berios »Sequenza III« für Frauenstimme solo von 1965 ist ein hochvirtuoser Klassiker, während sich das neue Werk des tschechischen Komponisten Marko Ivanovic auf das gefühlvolle Lamento aus der Oper »L’Arianna« von Monteverdi bezieht.

Since 1908, the Laeiszhalle has been a meeting place for Hamburg's musical life. The neo-baroque Laeiszhalle Grand Hall accommodates over 2,000 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

Facilities for ladies are located behind the cloakrooms on all floors. Facilities for gentlemen can be found on the landing between the floors, also located behind the cloakrooms.
A fully accessible toilet for persons with mobility disabilities is located behind the cloakroom on the ground floor (Parkett links).

We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
