These were the »Rising Stars« of 2021/22

Photo review of the festival week featuring six of Europe’s most exciting classical acts.

For one whole week in January 2022, the Elbphilharmonie welcomed aspiring young musicians for the »Rising Stars« festival. The support programme of the »European Concert Hall Organisation«, as part of which the continent’s great concert halls send Europe’s most exciting young artists off on a major tour each year, has been running since 1995.

In 2022, the format seems to be more relevant than ever, with young artists seeking to launch their careers having been severely impacted by the pandemic over the last two years. As a result, the six Rising Stars – four soloists, one string quartet and one saxophone quartet – played with all the more passion in the Recital Hall between 24 and 29 January, truly delighting the audience. The artists introduced themselves and their music personally before each concert. And they also took time to answer questions from Hamburg schoolchildren. The stars of the future – experienced up close.
