Concert Stream: Camerata Bern / Patricia Kopatchinskaja
Death and the Maiden
Patricia Kopatchinskaja is not a great fan of classical concert traditions: her own stage appearances are often more of a performance. She thinks that musicians too need to be receptive to the issues of our time. Regularly playing the same music in the same way »is like eating schnitzel time after time. Sooner or later, you’re ready to throw up!« Instead, this top musician prefers to base her concert appearances on a carefully planned concept, often collaborating with like-minded ensembles such as Camerata Bern, with whom the Moldavian violinist has a close connection as Artistic Partner. In her latest project, she does her motto full credit and joins forces with the Swiss ensemble, combining Schubert’s string quartet »Death and the Maiden« with music old and new to produce a dark and imaginative concert film.
