Debut in three-four time

As the youngest participant in the history of the competition, Roman Borisov won the Kissinger Klavierolymp in 2022 – for his »highly musical and intuitive interpretations with their awareness of structure,« as the jury said in its verdict. His recently released debut album featuring works by Sergei Rachmaninov was also well received, with music critic Eleonore Büning praising his confidence and the »tender elegance« of the recording. Rachmaninov is also the focus of the young Russian’s first appearance at the Elbphilharmonie, where he extends this year’s »Pianomania« motto »Mazurka« to include other dances in triple time.
