Für Ottavio Dantone ist Bach »das maximale Genie der Musik«. Der charismatische Dirigent und Cembalist ist mit seiner Accademia Bizantina zu Gast in Hamburg und führt gemeinsam mit drei weiteren erstklassigen Cembalist:innen die bahnbrechenden Cembalo-Konzerte von Johann Sebastian Bach auf.
Mit dem Fünften Brandenburgischen Konzert gilt Bach als Erfinder des Solo-Konzerts für das Cembalo. Doch ein Instrument war ihm nicht genug: Bis zu vier stellte der Komponist auf die Bühne – bis heute sind die gewaltigen Konzerte einzigartig in der Geschichte. Dabei ist gerade das Konzert für vier Cembali eigentlich »nur« eine Bearbeitung. Die Vorlage stammt von niemand geringerem als Antonio Vivaldi, die Hauptakteure sind hier vier Geigen. Doch Bach reizt die technischen und klanglichen Möglichkeiten der Cembalos so aus, das daraus ein eigenständiges Werk ensteht.
Seit über 40 Jahren setzt sich die Accademia Bizantina für »den aufregenden Klang der Barockmusik« ein und wird in der ganzen Welt für ihre packenden Konzerte auf Originalinstrumenten gefeiert. Fast von Anfang an dabei ist der Cembalist Ottavio Dantone, mittlerweile auch Künstlerischer Leiter des italienischen Ensembles, das er mit seiner immensen Erfahrung und größter Leidenschaft für die Musik leitet.

Since 1908, the Laeiszhalle has been a meeting place for Hamburg's musical life. The neo-baroque Laeiszhalle Grand Hall accommodates over 2,000 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

Strollers, prams, wheeled walkers, walking-stick umbrellas, bags sized A3 (42 cm x 30 cm) or above, sport bags, backpacks and luggage must be checked in at the cloakroom.
Jackets and handbags may be taken into the hall.

Facilities for ladies are located behind the cloakrooms on all floors. Facilities for gentlemen can be found on the landing between the floors, also located behind the cloakrooms.
A fully accessible toilet for persons with mobility disabilities is located behind the cloakroom on the ground floor (Parkett links).

Laeiszhalle is not at the Elbphilharmonie
The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.

Arrival time
We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
