Peter Eötvös: Multiversum

How the cosmic work for the Elbphilharmonie came to be written. In the video: the composer, organist Iveta Apkalna and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra.

»I translate everything I see or experience into music. I am particularly fascinated by the theory of parallel worlds.«

Peter Eötvös

To write a piece of music that sounds and vibrates like the universe itself – that was the vision that Hungarian composer Peter Eötvös had for his work »Multiversum«, which was first performed at the Elbphilharmonie on 10 October 2017. The video shows how the piece for concert organ, Hammond organ and orchestra came to be written, accompanying the composer at rehearsal with the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra and the organists Iveta Apkalna and László Fassang.
