»Future« is the overarching theme of the Hamburg International Music Festival 2025. As always, the grand season finale brings together Hamburg’s leading orchestras with a host of stars from across musical genres.
In this edition of the »Elbphilharmonie Mixtape«, ByteFM presenter Leif Gütschow takes a closer look at this year’s programme, with a particular focus on the festival’s theme, »Music and the Future«. He also speaks with Tony Roe, pianist of the innovative trio Tin Men and the Telephone. Founded in Amsterdam, the group incorporates an app into their performances, blending music with real-time inputs such as political speeches, tennis commentary and animal sounds. Having made a bold impression at the festival’s opening concert, the trio returns to the Recital Hall on 24 May 2025. In the interview, Tony Roe shares insights into their current programme, »It’s About Time«, explores synaesthesia and discusses the experience of dissolving the traditional boundaries.
