An evening of jazz with a top line-up in the Grand Hall: the »Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy« concludes with a grand final concert, bringing together on stage the mentors and this year’s cohort of rising stars at the end of their renowned masterclass.
Every two years, the »Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy« invites some of the most promising young jazz musicians from around the world to Hamburg. In 2025, the jury selected 16 young jazz talents from around 150 applicants, who will come to the Elbphilharmonie in August for an intensive week of coaching, jam sessions and talks. Following a dress rehearsal in the JazzHall, the culmination of the masterclass will be their joint performance in the iconic Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall.
Each edition of the »Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy« sees a change in artistic leadership. In 2025, the American saxophonist Donny McCaslin takes the helm, following in the footsteps of Yaron Herman and Anat Cohen. He will be joined by an impressive roster of jazz greats as mentors, including Gerald Clayton, Django Bates and Allison Miller.
