Live Talk »Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy« 2025

»Jazz Now – Navigating a Changing World«: A panel discussion with the mentors of the prestigious »Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy« 2025.

Every two years, the »Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy« hosts a major international jazz masterclass in Hamburg, featuring jam sessions, coaching and live talks, and culminating in a final concert together in the Grand Hall, which is also available to watch in the livestream.

An impressive line-up of jazz luminaries is set to convene at the Elbphilharmonie in their role as guest mentors, led by the New York saxophonist Donny McCaslin. In a public panel discussion, moderated by Lena Boßmann, McCaslin and his fellow artists will explore the evolving role of jazz in uncertain times – shaped by social tensions, political unrest and a rapidly changing music industry.  How is the day-to-day life of musicians changing? Which artistic paths are opening up and which are disappearing? What role does jazz play in an era of uncertainty – artistically, socially, economically, perhaps even politically? Join us for an evening dedicated to artistic realities in 2025 – personal, open and uncensored.

Please note: The panel discussion will be held in English.
