From Vivaldi to the Ghetto Songs of the Floating City

Previous EventNext Event

»When I look for another word for music, the word I find is always Venice.« Like so many artists and bons vivants, Friedrich Nietzsche was captivated by the spell of the Floating City. Venice's all-pervading mystery and beauty has always been a source of inspiration to artists: Liszt, Wagner, Stravinsky and Thomas Mann came here to live, or to die, and their reminiscences contributed to the city's romantic image. The music of La Serenissima, from Vivaldi's famous cello sonatas to the songs of the original Ghetto, is highlighted in a festival held over Easter 2019 lasting several days.

The complete programme and ticket information will be announced on 6 November 2018.
