Rising Stars
Discover the Stars of Tomorrow Today
It is every classical music enthusiast’s dream: to see the stars of tomorrow when they are still emerging young talents. An especially promising initiative resulted in the founding of the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO) – a network of representatives from the best concert halls in Europe.
Each season since 1995, ECHO selects the »Rising Stars« - the top up-and-coming musicians – and sends them on a European tour. The Elbphilharmonie showcases this season’s stars during one single week.
The line-up includes French cellist Edgar Moreau, his concert appearances already celebrated by the Tagesspiegel as »jackpot experiences«. Other participants include pianist Christopher Park, protégé of Christoph Eschenbach, as well as his colleague Mariam Batsashvili, winner of the renowned Liszt Competition in Utrecht in 2014. A special treat is the closing concert by the Armida Quartett, which was nominated by the Elbphilharmonie and has previously performed in the »Teatime Classics« concert series in the Laeiszhalle.
Like always, audiences can get to know the evening's artists and music during pre-concert artists' interviews - one hour before every »Rising Stars« festival concert.
