Description

Although only in his early twenties, Edgar Moreau already goes from one success to the next. At the age of 17, he won second prize at the prestigious Tchaikovsky Competition; since then he has released two records. The Tagesspiegel highly praised his Berlin debut, pointing out his ability of »making the difficult parts float«.

Moreau performs his debut concert at the Elbphilharmonie with Pierre-Yves Hodique, his partner at the piano for many years. Together they present a cleverly arranged programme that focuses on music from their homeland France with works by Francis Poulenc, Eric Tanguy and Gabriel Fauré. The historical range of these works from three centuries is juxtaposed with two classical and neoclassical cello sonatas by Beethoven and Alfred Schnittke respectively. A Meet the Artists discussion with Edgar Moreau takes place one hour before the start of the concert.
