Variation 5 – Wind Quintett / Herbert Schuch
Hamburg International Music Festival
György Ligeti was one of the great 20th century composers. A native of Hungary who later settled in Hamburg, he never felt obliged to follow any trends, his substantial success notwithstanding. The wind quintet Variation 5 has chosen two of Ligeti’s most entertaining works for tonight’s chamber music recital.
