Meeting new people, discussing the issues of the day, enjoying a fine meal: this is the successful concept of Story Tellers, an event that has been bringing people together over dinner since 2016. Tonight’s edition of Story Tellers focuses on easy-going topics such as the Mediterranean, wanderlust and jazz, which makes the evening a close cousin of jazz trio Mare Nostrum’s concert on 20 September, headed by the well-known accordionist Richard Galliano. The trio likewise deals with seafaring subjects in its music. Lady accordionist Terhi Romu will put the audience in the right mood with music from Italy and France as well as works by Richard Galliano.

The Elbphilharmonie’s supporting programme offers a variety of different angles on the music performed – either to complement the concert itself, or as an experience in its own right. As a rule, the Elbphilharmonie+ events are interdisciplinary in nature: exhibitions, talks to accompany a particular concert or events featuring flamenco dancing or scat singing. They take place in the Elbphilharmonie itself in some cases, as well as in museums, libraries and local culture centres.
