Klangzauber

Please note: Unfortunately, Christian Thielemann is unable to conduct the concert due to illness. Thankfully, Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla has agreed to conduct the concert at short notice. Due to the change in the line-up, the programme for the second half of the concert will also change. The tickets remain valid.

»Precision, emotional depth, life«: when Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla conducts, the press goes into raptures. And rightly so. The young Lithuanian has thrilled audiences around the world with her exciting and expressive interpretations. From 2016 to 2021, she succeeded Sir Simon Rattle as principal conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and now works freelance with top international orchestras. It is a real stroke of luck that she has found the time in her busy schedule to stand in for Christian Thielemann, who is ill, at ProArte. The programme includes Claude Debussy’s impressionist masterpiece »La mer« and three works by the sound magician Maurice Ravel, who transports the audience into magical musical worlds. The soloist in Ravel’s piano concerto will be none other than world star Lang Lang, who will perform this jazz-influenced work with his usual brilliance.
