Russische Nationalphilharmonie / Vladimir Spivakov
Tchaikovsky / Stravinsky
At the 2017 ECHO Klassik awards ceremony in the Elbphilharmonie, Lucas Debargue ignored the composers on his outstanding album and chose to improvise on a Luther chorale instead, making it abundantly clear that this is a courageous and highly gifted artist. The French shooting star is not only reaching for the stars as a pianist, he also has a strong wish to express himself as a composer.
Debargue discovered his passion for classical music fairly late, and that may be why he incorporates it all the more authentically in his playing. Tchaikovsky’s virtuoso Piano Concerto offers him every chance to show his mettle, and the Russian National Philharmonic rounds off the programme with two of the most famous ballet suites in the repertoire: Stravinsky’s »Le baiser de la fée« and Tschaikovsky’s »Sleeping Beauty«.
