Munich Philharmonic / Valery Gergiev
Debussy / Wagner
»It was as if the music was being injected straight into an artery« – thus one member of the audience after the acclaimed concert that the Munich Philharmonic gave on 22 January 2019 in the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall. The orchestra had travelled to Hamburg for two evenings under principal conductor Valery Gergiev: a Russian programme and a brilliant Mahler concert. Learn more on Blog & Streams.
Now Gergiev returns to the Elbe with »his Munich orchestra«, this time to play Debussy and Wagner. The star conductor has been artistic director and manager of Saint Petersburg’s legendary Mariinsky Theatre for over 20 years now. In addition, he also led the London Symphony Orchestra until he switched to the Munich Philharmonic in 2015. Valery Gergiev is one of today’s most sought-after conductors on the international concert scene.
