Lockenhaus on Tour
Nicolas Altstaedt & Friends
A whirlwind trip of the cult chamber music festival
Cellist Nicolas Altstaedt took over musical direction of the cult chamber music festival in Lockenhaus, Austria, from founder Gidon Kremer in 2012. For its 35th anniversary, Altstaedt brings a taster of the festival’s »spirit« to Hamburg: a spontaneous selection of works, folk music improvisations and Schubert’s »Trout Quintet«.
Lockenhaus stands behind the performance of more than just the standard concert works: the repertoire and the musicians in each chamber group are decided just before the concert. To capture the »spirit« of Lockenhaus, Altstaedt brings along adventurous festival colleagues to Hamburg, for example, the excellent Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto - a duo that has already inspired Hamburg audiences in the past. After so much spontaneity, the audience can look forward to an extra dose of playfulness with Schubert’s Trout Quintet in the second half of the evening!
