Klaviertrio Hannover
»à la russe«
To commemorate fellow musicians or composers, Russian composers often chose the piano trio genre in the late 19th century. While Tchaikovsky paid musical tribute to the pianist Nikolai Rubinstein with his Trio, Op. 50, the young Rachmaninov in turn dedicated his »Elegiac« Trio to Tchaikovsky. Anton Arensky followed this tradition with his First Piano Trio, which he dedicated to the then famous cellist Karl Davidov. The Klaviertrio Hannover plays outstanding works of Russian chamber music under the motto »à la russe«.
