Big party for small ensembles

To mark its 100th anniversary, Hamburg’s Friends of Chamber Music Association is putting on a chamber music festival featuring nothing but anniversary music – from 1622 to 2022. The musical impressions range from Renaissance lute sounds to brand-new music from 2022. The programme features a symphony with an unusual chamber music instrumentation by Dmitri Shostakovich, as well as one of Joseph Haydn’s »Sun Quartets« and works by Maurice Ravel and Johann Nepomuk Hummel. And all that with constantly changing line-ups. How does contemporary music sound alongside works by George Frideric Handel? Find out for yourself at this anniversary chamber music festival. And that in the presence of Hamburg’s First Mayor Peter Tschentscher.
