Juri Andruchowytsch: »Radio Nacht«
Harbour Front Sounds
World Literature from Ukraine
Juri Andrukhovych was born in Ivano-Frankivsk in the western Ukraine, the former town of Stanislau in Galicia, where he still lives today. After studying journalism, he began his writing career with poetry, which was followed by essays and novels. Yurii Andrukhovych is one of today’s best-known European authors. His latest novel, »Radio Nacht«, was published in Ukraine in 2020, and is not only a linguistic firework display, but also a contemporary novel that is eminently topical.
Climate protests, pandemic, the threat from Russia – the story is set in a time when hopes of radical change have been buried. For the Harbour Front Sounds Festival, Yurii Andrukhovych and his band Karbido put on »Radio Nacht« with songs from the CDs »Zimt«, »Atlas Estremo« and »Lithografien«.
