Visit from Jerusalem
Emigrants from Germany founded the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra (JSO) in 1936, which has been playing on national radio since then as Israel’s leading orchestra. At the suggestion of former Bundestag president Norbert Lammert, the radio symphony orchestra is making a concert tour through Germany to mark the anniversary of »1700 years of Jewish life in Germany«, and in addition to concerts in Berlin and Bochum its tour agenda features two appearances in Hamburg. Piano legend Elisabeth Leonskaja and chief conductor Steven Sloane join the orchestra on stage in performances of moving music by Beethoven, Stravinsky und Noam Sheriff.
