Jan Lisiecki
Piano Recital
It was already obvious at one of his first Hamburg appearances in autumn 2013 that this is a young pianist to watch. He was only 18 at the time, and was already creating a stir wherever he played with his fresh approach to Chopin’s Études. Since then, Jan Lisiecki has added some of the biggest and trickiest piano works to his personal repertoire, always applying his perfect mixture of seriousness and clear pleasure in playing. But Lisiecki’s heart also beats for small-scale pieces, and he returns to these time after time in his carefully-compiled recital programmes. This season, he focuses on the capriccio, the witty, playful and effervescent form that inspired composers from Bach to Rubinstein to break the rules now and again.
