Isabelle Faust / Daniel Harding / Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra (2G)
Schönberg / Matteis / Mahler
A vision of heaven
When Gustav Mahler and Arnold Schönberg first met in Vienna in 1903 there was an immediate feeling of mutual admiration. The two modernist pioneers are also the focus of this guest concert by the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra under its principal conductor Daniel Harding. Composed in 1936, Schönberg’s Violin Concerto was long regarded as impossible to perform, and even the great Jascha Heifetz refused to play it. Not so Isabelle Faust, who, after a critically acclaimed recording of the piece, now transforms the work into »radiantly clear elf music« (»Rondo«) live.
