For the past 13 years, Blum and Haugaard have invited guests to their Nordic Christmas concerts, which have filled concert halls in Denmark, Germany and Austria and thrilled the audience with their mix of heartfelt Christmas songs and fiery dance music. In a very special way, the Nordic Christmas and winter traditions manage to spread light and heat in a cold and dark time. The Christmas concert’s hand-picked repertoire offers a brilliant bouquet of both traditional and newly written material. Dance music from ancient steaming ballrooms, where people met for a dance in the Christmas time, to the quiet songs that rang around the fireplace and Christmas trees in the living rooms at home.
The base of the concert is again this year the incomparable Blum and Haugaard band, who gracefully and with great force brings the music and presence beyond the stage edge. This year’s guest is the virtuoso key harp player Erik Rydvall from Västerbotten in Sweden. In addition to the traditional material, he also masters J. S. Bach and new composed music per excellenze on his very special instrument. He performs extensively at both fiddlers’ gatherings and arenas around Europe, where he guests rock bands and pop artists as well as baroque ensembles, and he has toured intensively with the Swedish trio Nordic.
