I’m frightened of the old ones.« This statement by John Cage, which Erol Sarp likes to quote in connection with his duo Grandbrothers, puts in a nutshell the approach that has shaped the collaboration with his partner Lukas Vogel since they first launched their project: the never-ending quest for new aesthetic and practical ways of composing and performing music. In the next chapter of their musical research, the Grandbrothers are breaking new ground, adding arrangements for an ensemble to their repertoire of hypnotic and graceful songs.
