Frank Zappa

He referred to them as his last band: Ensemble Modern from Frankfurt. In 1992 none other than Frank Zappa invited the group, which specialises in contemporary classical music, to Los Angeles to rehearse and experiment with him. The result was the album »The Yellow Shark«, released a month before Zappa’s death. Zappa’s spirit also hovers over several posthumous recordings that Ensemble Modern made of his music – one example is »Greggery Peccary and Other Persuasions«, which the ensemble recorded in 2003 together with conductor Jonathan Stockhammer. And Frank Zappa will certainly be present in spirit at this concert, where Ensemble Modern and Stockhammer will rock the Grand Hall at the Elbphilharmonie!
