Duplex Coupler Grand Piano
Mirijam Contzen, Hartmut Rohde, David Stromberg und Florian Uhlig
Revival of an almost-forgotten instrument
The Duplex Coupler Grand Piano is a grand piano with two coupler pedals, of which only a handful of playable examples still exist worldwide. The cellist David Stromberg discovered one of the surviving instruments in 2020 and had it restored. Together with the pianist Florian Uhlig, who was immediately taken with the grand piano and history behind it, he has been engendering something of a renaissance of the Duplex Coupler Grand Piano ever since, with CD recordings and concerts.
