Beethoven once referred to his String Trios Opus 9 as »my best works«. And these pieces for violin, viola and cello are often regarded as important preliminary studies for Beethoven’s string quartets, a genre that Goethe described as »a conversation between four rational people«. Taking up this familiar quotation, tonight’s concert offers the chance to listen to a musical conversation between three immensely expressive musicians: all-star trio Vilde Frang, Lawrence Power and Nicolas Altstaedt perform a selection of Beethoven’s String Trios.
