»Belief« is the motto of this year’s Hamburg International Music Festival. And with grand seigneur Herbert Blomstedt there is a conductor among the guests for whom belief – be it religious or musical in motivation – has always been a lynchpin and a source of energy in art and life alike. For devout Catholic Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart it was likewise clear after his marriage to Constanze that, »We are made for one another, and God, who arranges everything and thus ordained this as well, will not leave us.«
