The Hamburg-based Ensemble Variante has a diverse chamber music programme that is characterised by its tonal flexibility. The core ensemble consists of clarinet, violin, viola and cello, and these are joined by an alternating cast of soloists and instrumentalists. The founders Nariman and Farac Akbarov put great emphasis on the self-responsibility of the ensemble members. This basis makes it possible to come up with original and flexible interpretations of works, going beyond the standard of a typical chamber music ensemble. In addition to having extensive experience performing in international concerts and music festivals, every member has been successful in music competitions around the world.
