Carmen Korn landed a unique hit with her »Jahrhundert-Trilogie«: in 2018 all three novels were on the bestseller list at the same time. She presents the second volume in the saga, »Zwischen heute und morgen«, together with Volker Albers, programme director of the Hamburg Thriller Festival and editor of the Abendblatt newspaper.
In the sequel to her bestseller »Und die Welt war jung«, the successful Hamburg author brings the past to life once more: a new decade commences for the family of friends from Cologne, Hamburg and San Remo; the 1960s promise new departures, prosperity and joie de vivre. Gerda and Heinrich’s gallery in Cologne is flourishing, while their daughter Ursula in Hamburg is expecting her first child. She is grateful to Elisabeth and Kurt, longstanding friends of her parents, for giving her and Joachim a home.
But living together under one roof isn’t easy: Elisabeth hardly lets the young couple have any freedom. Kurt escapes when he can, while his wife is unhappy that everybody is going his own way. While the next generation looks for its place in the here and now, Elisabeth clings to the past. And in San Remo too, the generations don’t find it easy to live alongside one another – there are changes and farewells.
