The Canadian conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin has already performed at the Elbphilharmonie with »his« orchestras from Rotterdam, Montreal and Philadelphia, as well as with the Berlin Philharmonic. He now returns for the music festival with the fantastic Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra – the ideal sparring partner for the music director designate of the New York Met, who is rapturously received wherever he goes thanks to his sunny disposition and energetic conducting. Alongside Rachmaninov’s fervently Romantic last symphony, the programme also includes Francis Poulenc’s »Stabat Mater«. The work reflects the French conductor’s deep religiosity, from the heartfelt prayer and Gregorian melodies to the thunder of the Last Judgment.
