Japanese early music conductor Masaaki Suzuki has been one of the leading experts on Bach’s vocal music for more than 25 years now. In 2012 the City of Leipzig honoured him with its prized »Bach Medal«, previously awarded to John Eliot Gardiner and Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Not least with his recording of Bach’s complete sacred cantatas, Suzuki has set new standards in terms of both discography and interpretation.
