Alisa Weilerstein, violoncello / Paavo Järvi
Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival
They are of sublime beauty - and a benchmark for every cellist. With his two cello concertos in C and D major Haydn created two absolute masterpieces that, to the benefit of musicians and audiences, rightly stand apart from the rest. To play one of the concertos live is not easy, but to present both in the same concert? An enormous challenge. American cellist Alisa Weilerstein undertakes this challenge now, ten years after receiving the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival’s Leonard Bernstein Award.
