The Wood Brothers

Their music – as a song of praise for slowing down – offers an alternative to the accelerating advance of digital innovation, and oozes American tradition, from folk and gospel to jazz and blues. Recorded entirely in analogue, their latest album »Heart Is the Hero« is also all about intuitive storytelling and authentic sounds when performed live in concert. »I better slow down, ’cause a soul can’t travel that fast«, they sing in »Pilgrim«. If you just close your eyes, you can see the vastness of the American landscape passing you by on your road trip, and hear the crackle of a campfire. In the best possible sense, it doesn’t get more American than this!

Raised in Colorado at the foot of the Rocky Mountains by a father who loved to sing around a camp fire, Chris and Oliver Wood initially went separate ways. Oliver played guitar in blues, funk and country bands, while Chris studied bass and formed a jazz fusion band. At a joint concert of their respective bands, the pair decided to make music together again – and they have now been enjoying great success, with nine albums released, as a trio with the drummer and multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix for more than 20 years.
