Ta ka di mi!

Konnakol, the rhythmic language of South India, is the most natural and fascinating way to appreciate, practise and listen to rhythm. This workshop, for anyone aged 16 or over who teaches music, works in music communication or is seeking inspiration for their own music making, opens the door to a new world of rhythm: both the traditional rules of Konnakol and approaches for its creative practice and teaching take centre stage. Konnakol is based on the simple idea of using spoken syllables to express rhythms and sounds. Combined with a logical principle of additive rhythm, the rhythm of South Indian music, often described as complex, emerges. In this workshop, participants will get a glimpse behind the scenes and discover the charm of Konnakol with simple and comprehensible examples and exercises.
