Bartók / Haydn / Beethoven
Die sechs Bartók-Quartette, die das Jerusalem Quartet in drei Konzerten mit Werken von Joseph Haydn kombiniert, sind nicht selten streng im Ausdruck, herb in den kühnen harmonischen Modulationen, aber auch mitreißend im melodischen Einfallsreichtum. Vieles erinnert in Bartóks Quartetten auch an den Stil von Dmitri Schostakowitsch, der in seinen Quartetten oft mit Anagrammen und Zitaten sowie reicher Kontrapunktik gearbeitet hat. Das Jerusalem Quartet ordnet die sechs Bartók-Quartette chronologisch an. In diesem zweiten Konzert erklingt also das Dritte Streichquartett, entstanden zehn Jahre nach dem Zweiten in Bartóks Budapester Jahren. Kein Geringerer als der große Musikphilosoph Theodor W. Adorno lobte nach der Uraufführung die »raffinierte Kontrapunktik« und die »Farbe«, womit er sich wohl auf die vorherrschenden Anlehnungen an die ungarische Klangwelt bezog. Sogar noch kunstvoller erscheint das Streichquartett Nr. 4, das mit fünf Sätzen gewissermaßen zwiebelförmig aufgebaut ist. Die Rahmensätze bilden die äußere Schicht, die Sätze 2 und 4 die innere. Im Zentrum steht ein langsamer Satz. Das 1996 von vier russischstämmigen Israelis gegründete Jerusalem Quartet stellt diesen Bartók-Quartetten Haydns »Komplimentierquartett« gegenüber.

We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
