Missa solemnis

»From the heart – may it return again – to the heart«, is inscribed by Beethoven at the head of the autograph score to his »Missa solemnis«. It was written around the same time as his famous »Symphony No. 9«, and he considered it »the most successful of his spiritual outputs«. The work challenges performers and is one of the most technically demanding choral works in the classical repertoire. Conducting it is an equally formidable undertaking and can only be mastered by a musician experienced in both choral and orchestral work – making Matthias Janz virtually predestined for the part.
