Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy 2024/25
Budding musicians under the guidance of a top-class team will spend a week working on their great passion: jazz.
»It was a dream coming true,« is how one of those participating in the Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy 2023 sums up their experience. The third edition of this successful format takes place in August 2025.
Led by six top-class mentors, the Jazz Academy offers participants a varied programme of workshops, rehearsals, jam sessions, panels and concerts. Together with the mentors, the participants develop a programme of their own pieces, which they then perform at a public concert in the Grand Hall of the Elbphilharmonie. All instruments are welcome!
The Artistic Director in 2025 is the world-class saxophonist Donny McCaslin. Other mentors include Django Bates (composition, arrangement), Gerald Clayton (piano), Allison Miller (drums), Jorge Roeder (bass) and Jen Shyu (vocals, composition), who support participants along with experts from the field of music education.

Final Concert: 24 August 2025 in the Elbphilharmmonie Grand Hall
Costs: The »Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy« is free for participants (incl. accommodation and catering in Hamburg). Participants are required to organise their own travel arrangements to Hamburg (arrival by 16:00 on 18 August 2025) and pay the travel costs themselves.
Eligibility: Jazz musicians aged 18–30
