Elbphilharmonie Talk with Anoushka Shankar

The star sitar player talks about her »Reflektor« festival at the Elbphilharmonie, about the music of southern Asia and the Hindu festival of light Diwali.

»I question the stereotypes that people have in mind when they think of Indian or southern Asian music,« explains sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar, who bridges the gap between continents and genres like hardly another contemporary artist. In the »Reflektor« festival that she curated, southern Asia is always the connecting link, but the musical styles range from Indian classical music through electronica to jazz. In this interview, Anoushka Shankar presents the artists that she invited to appear at the Elbphilharmonie festival, and answers questions from the Elbphilharmonie's social-media community. The talk was broadcast on Instagram Live.
