Vortrag: »Ocean Change: Arktis – eine Welt im Wandel«
Horizonta-Festival Hamburg
Vulnerable natural realm
For over 40 years now, Arved Fuchs has been undertaking expeditions to the remote polar regions of our globe. He is the first person to have reached both the North Pole and the South Pole on foot within the space of a single year. What began for him as a great adventure has, however, long since evolved into a mission. While experiencing the special aesthetics and extraordinary beauty of the Arctic landscapes on his trips, he is also directly confronted with the effects of climate change, the littering of the sea and land, and the extinction of species.
All proceeds from the event go to the forestry and climate protection projects of the organiser AMAP e. V. (Almada Mata Atlântica Project) – dedicated to the safeguarding of the »Mata Atlântica«, the so-called Atlantic Forest, on Brazil’s Cocoa Coast.
