Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich / So Ryang / Yutaka Sado
Tchaikovsky / Mahler
The Tonkünstler-Orchester, with its residences at the Vienna Musikverein, at the Festspielhaus St. Pölten and in Grafenegg, is one of Austria’s biggest and most important musical ambassadors. So it makes sense that on their first tour of Germany together with principal conductor Yutaka Sado, the programme features a work by an Austrian composer: Gustav Mahler’s Fifth Symphony, inextricably linked to Visconti’s film classic »Death in Venice«, where the Adagietto is used in the soundtrack, is one of the composer’s best-known and oft-performed works. Before the Mahler, SoRyang, an exceptional pianist from Vienna with Korean roots, can be heard as the soloist in Tchaikovsky’s famous Piano Concerto in B flat minor.
