As part of the Elbphilharmonie Opening festival, star baritone Thomas Hampson dedicates his concert to the famous Philharmonics of light entertainment and takes his audience back to the »Golden Ages« of the Viennese Fin de Siècle and 1930s New York.
In addition to his success at the most prestigious opera houses in the world, Thomas Hampson plays a key role in promoting an art form that too often stands in the shadow of »great« opera: He is one of the leading interpreters of German lieder of the Romantic era, and was known as the »ambassador of American art song« for his celebrated lieder project »Song of America«.
Thomas Hampson now collaborates with the world-renowned chamber ensemble »The Philharmonics«. Consisting of high-profile members of the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic, this multicultural studded lineup has an extraordinary repertoire that ranges from classical and klezmer music to gypsy music and Latin jazz.
