The taste of char
Sufi Festival / Elbphilharmonie+
The scents and sounds of Afghanistan
Spice tasting accompanied by fascinating music from Afghanistan: in the historic atmosphere of the Speicherstadt Museum, the ensemble ANIM invites you to immerse yourself in the scents and sounds of Afghan culture. In an entertaining concert, the musicians present Sufi music and classic pieces from the heyday of Afghan musical culture on instruments like the long-necked lute sitar, the tanbur drum and the stringed instrument ghichak. Afterwards, visitors will have a chance to taste different spices used in Afghan cuisine, such as the traditional mixture char – and interesting stories and information about the tradition of seasoning food will be served with the spices.
The public can get to know the world of Afghan music in even more detail at the ANIM ensemble’s concert in the Elbphilharmonie on 25 November 2022.
Elbphilharmonie+ is a programme that opens up different ways of looking at the music performed at the Elbphilharmonie – either to supplement a concert, or as an experience in its own right. Interdisciplinary encounters and exhibitions form part of the Elbphilharmonie+ programme, as do concert talks and films shown in museums, libraries, cinemas and community centres.
