Teatime Classics
Beethoven / Bach / Saint-Saëns
The popular »Teatime Classics« series comes to an end with a performance by two exceptional young musicians. The Swiss-Japanese violinist Sumina Studer has won countless awards, most recently the chamber music prize at the TONALi Violin Competition in 2017. Russian pianist Boris Kusnezow made his breakthrough by winning First Prize at the German Music Competition in 2009, before going on to perform in New York’s Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonie. Their chamber music calibre is reflected in the diverse and challenging programme they have selected for their concert in the »Teatime Classics« series: Johann Sebastian Bach’s first solo violin sonata, with its virtuosic challenges, is one of the masterpieces of the violin repertoire, while Saint-Saëns’s Havanaise for Violin and Piano is melodious and lyrical. Finally, in Beethoven’s Violin Sonata in G major, the playful humour for which the composer was famous shines through.
