If there is one fresh young ensemble that’s ebullient and really loves playing music, then that ensemble is the vision string quartet. The four members of the group, which was formed in 2012, are not only at home in the classic string quartet repertoire, they also throw themselves with equal talent at jazz, pop and rock music.

The boundless delight they take in what they do is reflected in their unusual concert formats, e.g. at the Heidelberg Spring Festival, when the vision string quartet worked together with ballet legend John Neumeier. With this flexibility, the four musicians, who were trained by the Alban Berg Quartet and the Artemis Quartet, do ample justice to the formation’s name.

No less trend-setting are their readings of demanding works from the traditional repertoire. With two such pieces, Beethoven’s bold »Quartetto serioso« and the gorgeous colours of the Debussy quartet, the vision string quartet shows that they are an ensemble to watch in the future.
