Symphoniker Hamburg / Karl-Heinz Steffens
»Virtuosity and Drama«
Composer Antonín Dvořák had to struggle against a cliché for many years; many people believed he was simply a »Czech bandleader« striking up the next dance. It was his greatest wish that his Seventh Symphony »would move the world«. And that wish was granted: since its first performance in 1885, the work’s passionate and dark panorama has been moving music lovers all over the world. Karl-Heinz Steffens, General Music Director of the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, steps in for the late Sir Jeffrey Tate, Symphoniker Hamburg’s former principal conductor, who passed away in June 2017.
Please note that following the death of principal conductor Sir Jeffrey Tate in June 2017, the Symphoniker Hamburg has reorganised its 2017/18 season. Programmes and performers may deviate from the original published concert programme.
