Symphoniker Hamburg / James Feddeck
»Fin de Siècle«
Fin-de-siècle Paris may have been pulsating with life but the obsession with Wagner was threatening to suffocate any kind of variety in art. The solution: the Société Nationale de Musique, which strove to ensure that works by contemporary French composers were performed more widely. In its fourth symphony concert, the Symphoniker Hamburg presents two representatives of this school: Debussy and Ravel. Stepping in for the late Sir Jeffrey Tate, Symphoniker Hamburg’s former principal conductor, is the American James Feddeck. He completes the programme with Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony.
Please note that following the death of principal conductor Sir Jeffrey Tate in June 2017, the Symphoniker Hamburg has reorganised its 2017/18 season. Programmes and performers may deviate from the original published concert programme.
