Symphoniker Hamburg / Ion Marin

With profound sadness, the Symphoniker Hamburg said goodbye to its principal conductor Sir Jeffrey Tate, who passed away suddenly in northern Italy on 2 June 2017. The Symphoniker Hamburg thereupon reorganised its 2017/18 season over a short time period. Ion Marin, first guest conductor of Symphoniker Hamburg, opens the new concert season with his interpretation of Strauss’s early tone poem »Tod und Verklärung« (Death and Transfiguration). Bruckner’s unfinished Ninth Symphony, which he dedicated to »the dear Lord«, will be performed as planned.
